When you think about it, the roads can be a scary place. It seems like we have gotten comfortable with driving on a daily basis, and we take for granted how dangerous it can truly be. Just think about it, the average sized American man is about 5’10, 190 pounds, and can run at a top speed of 15 miles per hour. If you have ever seen a game of football before then you know how scary and damaging collisions between two grown men can be.
Cars, in contrast, average 4,009 pounds (over 200 times greater than that of a human) and can get to a top speed of over 100 miles per hour (almost ten times greater than a human). Car collisions are serious incidents and can be very dangerous for those involved, but thankfully technology has advanced to a point where vehicle companies like GMC and Buick are able to implement extensive safety measures to keep drivers and passengers safe in the event of a collision or equipment malfunction.
But just because your vehicle is effective at protecting you, doesn’t mean that you can relax on the road. In fact, often a collision is just the beginning of the potential dangers that you must be aware of when you get into an auto incident. That is why we here at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park, your local GMC dealer in Los Angeles, have put together this handy guide to post-incident roadside safety.
When an accident, popped tire, or other vehicle malfunction happens, adrenaline and emotions are high. During this time it is important to take a deep breath and gain your composure in order to avoid any further danger. Make sure everyone in your car is okay, and call an ambulance if necessary.
If your car is capable and road conditions allow, slowly and calmly move your vehicle to the side of the road. This is the safest place you could be after an accident, but if you are in a high traffic area and you aren’t sure if you can make it to the side of the road without endangering yourself or other drivers, or your vehicle has become inoperable, it is best to stay put and wait for help to arrive.
If your vehicle or a vehicle you collided with has any damage it is important to call the police and exchange all of the relevant insurance information. According to CarFax.com, this will include the involved party’s first and last name, home address, driver’s license number, license plate, phone number, email address, insurance company, policy number, and VIN. Photograph any damages to both your car and the other involved vehicle.
Don’t admit any guilt as this could affect how much of the cost of repairs your insurance will cover. The police will complete an accident report and will usually call a towing service that will take your vehicle to the closest repair shop unless you specify otherwise.
To file an insurance claim you will need to provide your insurance company with all of the information that you collected from the involved parties and give a detailed description of how the accident happened. Again, it is important that you don’t admit guilt and let the insurance companies decide who was at fault.
After they decide who was responsible for the collision they will either make you pay your deductible and they will cover the rest of the cost of repairs, or if the other party was at fault, then they will make their insurance company pay for your vehicle’s repair.
The process of getting your vehicle repaired and completing the insurance claim can take a few weeks, so obviously it is best to avoid an auto incident altogether. That isn’t always possible, so in that case, this guide should help things go more smoothly at the scene.

GMC has had some truly spectacular vehicles in its long, storied history. Just look at the groundbreaking 1936 GMC Half Ton Pickup that helped usher in a new wave of trucks made for mass consumption, or the 1955 GMC 100 Series Deluxe ST CT208 that basically defines the time period, or the 1988 GMC 1500 Sierra SLE that marked the beginning of the modern era of truck design.
Now, in 2016 we have become spoiled with state of the art technology and world-class craftsmanship in every GMC produced. With all of this saturation of awe-inspiring vehicles, the question of: “which vehicle can claim itself to be the best?” becomes increasingly difficult to answer.
The Denali line of GMC vehicles has leveled the playing field across the board by uniformly incorporating the company’s newest technologies and convenience features in almost all of their models.
“So if the vehicles all have a Denali trim, aren’t they all basically the same?” you might ask. The answer is no, no they are not all basically the same. The 2017 GMC Terrain Nightfalledition hits your favorite New GMC dealer near Buena Park, California, Simpson Buick GMC, in December 2016, and is sure to immediately become one of the best-selling vehicles in the GMC lineup. Read on for details on GMC’s hottest new vehicle.
The 2017 Terrain Nightfall is expected to be equally as impressive as GMC’s famed Denali line in terms of tech and convenience features, but the Nightfall offers a uniquely edgy style that helps it stand out from the crowd. Just look at the exterior. With a blacked out grill, 18-inch aluminum wheels with glossy black spokes, and black accents strategically placed across the entire car; the Terrain Nightfall offers drivers an attitude never before seen in a luxury SUV.
The Terrain was built for action with an available 3.6-liter V6 that can power its way to a best-in-class 301 horsepower while still earning a surprisingly efficient 23 highway miles per gallon. If you prefer efficiency over power, GMC also offers a 4-cylinder option that earns up to 32 highway miles per gallon.
Although a full list of interior convenience and tech specifications hasn’t been released to the public yet, the little we do know about the Terrain Nightfall is enough to get us more than a little excited. The 2017 model will feature a 7-inch touchscreen monitor that will house GMC’s signature Intellilink infotainment system that allows you to access navigation controls as well as use voice commands to play Pandora or SiriusXM stations, make phone calls and send and receive text messages.
GMC’s reputation as one of the leading truck and SUV manufacturers in the world market ensures that any special edition vehicle like the Terrain Nightfall or earlier special editions like the Sierra All Terrain X and Canyon Nightfall are worth noting. With Fall of 2016 quickly approaching, we here at Simpson Buick GMC believe it is high time to start getting excited for GMC’s latest and greatest edition to an already impressive lineup.
There are few manufacturers as reliable and trusted as GMC, and with quality vehicles like the 2017 Terrain Nightfall, it is easy to see why. There are even fewer used car dealers near Anaheim, California that you should trust with your car buying needs. If you are in the market for a new or used vehicle, then come visit your friends at Simpson Buick GMC located at 6500 Auto Center Drive, Buena Park, California 90621.
We offer some of the absolute best service imaginable to all of our customers, and we continue that amazing service even after we’ve made the sale with our talented and experienced service department. Call us today to schedule your test drive!
The country has been scorching and the summer’s really heating up here in Orange County. The area’s been the grip of several sweltering heat waves, and people are looking to cool off any way they can. So what are some of the many ways you can chill out in OC when the thermometer is ready to blow its top? Here are some suggestions from your friends at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park.
Head To A Theme Park – This may be a bit odd to suggest, but you can bet folks will be flocking to Knott’s Soak City Waterpark at Knott’s Berry Farm. A family favorite for splashing, swimming, and all sorts of aquatic fun, Soak City offers cabana rentals and such waterlogged attractions as Banzai Falls, the Laguna Storm Water Tower, and Malibu Run to name a few. And if you trek to Disneyland this summer (yes those pesky relatives are in town again), you can cool off on Pirates of the Caribbean, Grizzly River Run, It’s A Small World, Splash Mountain…well, you get the idea. Just remember: “Dead men tell no tales!”
Go To Da Beach – Yeppers, that’s a pretty obvious choice, isn’t it? But hey, this is Orange County, and we know how to beach. Pick your favorite – be it Newport, Huntington, Laguna, or Dana Point – grab some sunscreen and let the Pacific Ocean cool those hot tootsies… ahhhh! While you’re there, go on a whale-watching cruise or take the catamaran over to Catalina. You’ll have a whale of a time and cool off in the process.
Shop Till You Drop – The OC has a fantastic assortment of enclosed shopping malls to suit every fancy. So why not go on a shopping spree in air-conditioned comfort at one of our many area malls like South Coast Plaza, Brea Mall, or the Westminster Mall, to mention a few?
Go To A Movie – Orange County has movie theaters galore. The Krikorian Buena Park Metroplex 18, La Mirada 7 and plenty of others nearby offer an entertaining respite from the relentless OC sun.
Go Out To Dinner – The OC has, well, a bajillion or so excellent restaurants. So why not beat the heat by dining in a nice cool restaurant and enjoy some nice cool beverages while you’re at it? (Remember: if those beverages are alcoholic, please drink and drive responsibly.)
Take In A Concert Or Show – Enjoy some hot summer entertainment and chill out with your buds at the Honda Center. After all, if the 2007 Stanley Cup Anaheim Ducks play there, it’s got be a cool place, right?

Lower gas prices and the benefits of more cargo and passenger capacity are but a couple of the reasons why the midsize SUV market is red hot with no signs of cooling off anytime soon.
One of the more popular SUVs in this crowded field is the new 2017 Buick Enclave. The Enclave blends practicality, luxury, performance, and advanced safety features in a refined and elegant package. The 2017 version adds a new Sport Touring Edition that’s distinguished by a new Satin Black ice-toned “waterfall” grille, a new “ice blue” interior, three new color choices, and bespoke 20″ chrome cast aluminum sport wheels with Satin Black accents. Otherwise, the 2017 Enclave remains largely unchanged from the 2016 model. After all, why mess with success?
We’ve seen Buick’s design philosophy evolve during the past few years. The new Enclave exemplifies the marque’s design cues with its signature grille, large, available LED-accented Xenon HID headlights, a long, sloping hood, curvaceous silhouette, and rounded edges. Unlike other boxier midsize SUVs on the market, the overall effect is pleasingly elegant and understated. The Enclave’s smooth, artfully sculpted lines also improve aerodynamic efficiency. Chrome accents add just the right amount of bling while not being overdone.
The Enclave features some innovative touches, including available articulating headlights that swivel in the direction of travel as you steer. Available power-folding outside mirrors are also heated and auto-dimming for improved nighttime visibility. A handy power rear liftgate that opens with the touch of a button comes standard.
As one of the larger SUVS in the GM stable (the Enclave shares much of the same underpinnings and dimensions as the GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse), the Enclave offers a roomy and exceptionally quiet interior with seating for up to eight people (when equipped with a 2nd-row bench seat). Comfortable 2nd-row Captain’s Chairs are standard. Head and legroom for both front and rear passengers is generous. And 3rd-row passengers will find it easy to slide into their seats thanks to the Enclave’s exclusive Smardslide™ seating that tilts the 2nd-row seats up and forward with just one hand.
The Enclave’s surrounds you in luxury with superbly crafted interior appointments. Luxuriate in soft, supple leather seats. Eight-way power heated and cooled front seats (an available passenger-seat option) with driver memory function are a popular option, along with a dual panoramic moonroof (power sliding in the front, fixed in the back). Rich wood-toned and satin chrome accents, a retro-looking, dash-mounted clock, premium soft-touch materials, and meticulous attention to detail rivals that of ultra-luxury vehicles costing thousands more.
Go ahead and pack all that you need for that long family road trip. Even with the 60/40 split folding 3rd-row seats in place, you’ll find room to spare – 23 cubic feet of it, to be exact. Fold down both the 3rd and 2nd-row seats and expand your cargo capacity to a liberal 115 cubic feet.
Today’s modern, on-the-go families desire the latest technology so that everyone can find their high-tech sweet spot. Accordingly, the 2017 Buick Enclave satisfies even the most demanding technophiles with a host of forward-thinking infotainment features. Buick’s IntelliLink connectivity suite lets you use voice commands and Bluetooth® wireless capabilities to play your favorite music, make calls, and more.
A large, crisp color touchscreen display with customizable home screen gives you instant access to a variety of functions. Add optional navigation for real-time traffic and voice-activated turn-by-turn navigation. The Enclave now offers convenient 4G LTE Wi-Fi, allow you to connect multiple devices for unparalleled access to your music, favorite Internet sites, email, games, and apps. The Enclave’s available rear-seat entertainment system comes with an 8-inch LCD flat screen, DVD player with remote, two sets of wireless headphones, and premium Bose® audio.
The Enclave also distinguishes itself when it comes to performance and handling. The Enclave’s proven and reliable Direct Injection, 3.6-liter V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) generates up to 288 horsepower and 270 lb. ft. of torque for power when you need it. It’s mated to a smooth-shifting electronic 6-speed automatic transmission. The Enclave is rated to tow up to 4,500 pounds. Stabilitrak® with Traction Control, dual-flow suspension dampers, and a comfort-tuned suspension make for confident and compliant handling that helps to soak up the bumps. The available Active Intelligent All-Wheel Drive constantly monitors changing road conditions and adjusts vehicle traction accordingly.
An industry-first front center airbag provides added protection for front passengers in the event of a side-impact collision. It’s an example of the many innovations engineered to provide a higher standard of safety. Some of the many other safety technologies designed to enhance your peace of mind include:
Based on the 2016 model, the Enclave receives top safety scores from both the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and the NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration). You’ll also have the peace of mind that comes with a 4-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, a 6-year/70,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, and 6 years or 70,000 miles of 24/7 roadside assistance and courtesy transportation.
If you’re in the market for a smartly styled, elegantly appointed, spacious, versatile, and well-equipped midsize SUV, you owe it to yourself to check out the new Buick Enclave at your local Orange County Buick GMC dealer, Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park.

Happy Father’s Day!
Watch the news on any given evening and you might hear stories like “The Dangers of GMOs” or “What’s in Your Dinner Tonight Might Just Kill You.” Now hopefully what was in your dinner tonight did not actually end up killing you, but we’re at a point in our society where we have become hyper-aware of every single health hazard or endangerment of our well being.
People protest pesticides, consumerism, and animal rights. They march for positive body image, equal wages, and religious freedom, and rightfully so. When people feel that their rights or their life are in danger, they try to take action and do something about it. One cause that doesn’t receive nearly enough attention is distracted driving, and the explanation as to why is simple.
Although distracted driving is responsible for around 5,000 deaths every year according toAAAFoundation.com, there are no social movements, protests or marches dedicated to fixing the problem. To us here at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park, your preferred new GMC dealer in Buena Park, California, the reason is clear. Nobody is standing up against one of the most common killers of teen drivers in America because almost everyone has been guilty of distracted driving at some point in their lives and many drive while distracted on a daily basis.
According to Distraction.gov, 10% of all new drivers (15-19 years old) who experienced accidents were reported as distracted at the time of the collision. Even worse, 2 percent of drivers on the road at any time are text messaging or using handheld devices. This means that when you are driving on the highway at exceptional speeds, 2 out of every 100 drivers are distracted from the road at any moment and endangering all other drivers on the road.
According to CDC.gov, an astonishing 243,243 American teens were treated in emergency departments for injuries stemming from auto accidents in 2013 alone. This is not a small problem as it takes thousands of lives and sends hundreds of thousands of people to the hospital with injuries every year, and it isn’t one that is going away any time soon as more and more people who are attached to their cell phones begin driving.
What needs to happen is a widespread movement to end this type of damaging behavior. To this end, Buick and GMC have been installing systems such as Bluetooth hands-free calling and texting and voice-activated audio streaming into their vehicles. Although it is by no means a comprehensive solution to the distracted driving epidemic, it is a step in the right direction as it encourages drivers to keep their eyes and attention on the road instead of their phones.
Models like the 2016 GMC Acadia and the 2016 Buick Cascada are helping their owners stay connected to the world around them while also supporting attentive, careful driving. Additional safety features such as lane departure warning, forward collision alert and blind zone alert are valuable safeguards, but again, nothing can protect a driver more than aware and alert driving habits.
Looking away from the road even for a second can be the difference between you arriving home safely and waking up in a hospital with terrible injuries. The text can wait. Stay alert when behind the wheel for yourself and for the drivers around you.
If safety is a priority for you, then you will feel right at home at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park where we have a variety of extremely safe used GMCs for sale in Buena Park, California. We are proud to support the movement to end distracted driving, so stop by our store located at 6600 Auto Center Drive, Buena Park, California 90621 to pick out your new Buick today.
In 2014, Kelley Blue Book awarded its prestigious Brand Image Award to GMC for being the most refined brand on the market. Since then GMC hasn’t looked back, producing some of the highest quality vehicles on the road. The 2017 Acadia, for example, is set for production this spring and represents the 2nd generation of the highly successful GMC SUV.
Previous Acadia models were lauded by consumers and critics alike for the SUV’s attention to detail, elegance and performance, so expectations are extremely high for the 2017 model, and it certainly does not disappoint. We here at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park, your local dealer of New Buick and GMC Models in Anaheim, California, are thrilled to present to you the all-new 2017 GMC Acadia.
Offered in three separate trims, SLT, Denali and All-Terrain, the 2017 GMC Acadia is made slightly smaller and much lighter than its predecessors, reclassifying itself as a mid-size SUV rather than a full-size. Each trim has its own identity, allowing customers to customize their vehicle with the exact features they want to fit their lifestyle.
The SLT trim represents the base model, yet still comes with the stunning re-imagined exterior design and professionally-styled interior. Standard features include a refined 7-inch touch monitor with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, active noise cancellation technology for a smoother, quieter ride, and a 2nd-row pullout console that offers added convenience for any passengers riding in the back seats.
Upgrade to the Denali trim to include luxurious features like the hands-free power liftgate, signature chrome accents on the grill, door handles, exhaust tips and roof rails, and high intensity LED headlamps that light up even the darkest roads. The Denali trim also offers consumers an available dual skyscape sunroof, heated leather steering wheel, driver and passenger seats, and real wood interior accents, for the tasteful professional.
The All-Terrain trim includes all standard features, but is designed for a more active lifestyle with seating for five, increased storage compartments, black chrome accents, and the highly-coveted advanced all-wheel drive system that is perfect for all off-road and inclement driving conditions.
The 2017 Acadia SLT and Denali trims are made with seating for up to seven, accompanied by significantly increased comfort and performance measures. Each row of seating offers more space to stretch over the previous year, available USB ports for phone charging, and the center console comes with an available wireless charging station so that you can stay connected without the clutter of wires.
The 2017 Acadia was built with a lighter, high-strength steel that not only makes the vehicle more maneuverable and agile, but also helps with acceleration. It is safe to say that the 2017 Acadia is well-suited to continue the strong GMC tradition of refinement and excellence, but to really see the value of the newest addition to the GMC family, you will need to test drive it yourself.
If you are in the market for a new vehicle but you can’t wait for the release of the elegant GMC Acadia coming this spring, stop by Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park located at 6600 Auto Center Drive Buena Park, California 90621 where we have a wide selection of top-of-the-line cars trucks and SUV’s that are ready for sale. Your local Orange County Buick GMC dealer in Buena Park, Simpson Buick GMC, proudly introduces the beautiful news 2016 Verano 4-door luxury sedan. We’re excited about the new Verano’s sleek, elegant appearance, sumptuous upscale interior, advanced technology, and proven GM performance.
Just one look at the new 2016 Buick Verano for sale in Orange County at Simpson Buick will convince you that this luxury sedan is something special. The Verano’s aerodynamic sheetmetal is seductively sleek and elegant. Brilliant oversized projector-beam headlights with a translucent blue ring accent flank the Verano’s signature black, vertical-finned grille that artfully flows into the Verano’s long sloping hood. Buick’s distinctive “ventiports” adorn the hood on either side just below the Verano’s expansive windshield. An upswept beltline crease and expressive wheel arches give the Verano a graceful sense of forward motion. The Verano’s sloping rear deck features an available integrated spoiler and large horizontal taillights that make a bold statement.
The 2016 Verano’s superb interior defines a new level of luxury with a zealous attention to detail and uses the finest materials throughout. As Bengt Halvorson, an editor with automotive experts TheCarConnection.com says, “Inside, however, is where the Verano truly pleases, with a very upscale feel for such a small car, and luxury touches like the voice-activated IntelliLink system and a heated steering wheel… [and] one of the quietest interiors of any compact or even mid-size sedan.”
And Marty Padgett, also of TheCarConnection.com, states, “Interior appointments are worthy of being compared to those of any luxury car this size. The front-wheel-drive layout grants the Verano a very spacious interior. Front seats are superb, with all-day support for a wide range of drivers, along with plenty of seat travel and headroom for the tallest drivers. Rear seats are well contoured for adults, too; the only thing that calls the Verano out as a compact is the need to compromise legroom between front and rear if there are several lanky occupants riding at once. Trunk space is large and well-shaped, and rear seatbacks fold forward nearly flat, with a wide opening.”
The Verano’s sumptuous interior offers available premium-grade leather seats that are rich and supple. As Mr. Halvorson noted above, the Verano’s interior indeed does an excellent job of absorbing road and other exterior noises thanks to its “QuietTuning®” technology. Optional heated driver and front passenger seats, as well as an available heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, are unexpected pleasures. Find your perfect driving position thanks to the Verano’s eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Take the Verano’s three-spoke sports steering wheel in hand, check the four chrome-accented sports gauges, and take your technology experience to a new level. Connect like never before with standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and the capabilities of OnStar®. Use GM’s exclusive voice-activated Intellilink® to access your music, find destinations, and make hands-free calls with Bluetooth®-compatible smartphones. Take your music to new levels of sonic enjoyment by opting for the available audiophile-quality Bose ® Surround-Sound Audio System. You can also enjoy Internet-based streaming audio services such as Pandora®, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio and Stitcher Radio®. A large color touchscreen display provides easy control of these and many other functions, including the optional navigation feature.
Motivating the stunning 2016 Buick Verano is a 2.4-liter, direct-injection, 180-hp ECOTEC® 4-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-liter gets an excellent EPA-estimated 32 mpg highway for extended cruising range. Move up to the more powerful ECOTEC® 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder and feel the rush of 250 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque that rockets you from 0-60 mph in just under 6.5 seconds. Moreover, the Verano Turbo handles with sporty aplomb, thanks to special sports suspension tuning and steering. Stabilitrak keeps the Verano on an even keel to keep you in confident control.
Safety is always a priority at Buick. For this reason, the new 2016 Verano is well-equipped with an impressive arsenal of advanced passive and safety features, earning it a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Verano comes equipped with 10 standard airbags, plus available active driver-assist safety features, such as Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward-Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Parking Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and a standard Rear Backup Camera.
The new 2016 Buick Verano from Simpson Buick GMC proves that smaller-sized luxury 4-door sedan just could be the perfect fit for you. As Kelly Blue Book notes, “If luxury features like a quiet ride, a comfortable interior, and plenty of high-tech options are your thing, but you don’t have a lot to spend, then this small Buick might just be what you’re looking for. The available turbocharged engine adds a little spice without upsetting the luxury balance.”

Meteorologists predict that this year the West Coast will experience a “super” El Niño; perhaps one of the strongest on record. Warmer ocean currents create much wetter storm systems and the potential for torrential downpours. We’ve already seen this happen recently with heavy rainstorms causing flooding and damaging mudslides in many areas of Southern California.
Because of the severe drought, many Southern Californians aren’t used to driving in all this wet weather. It’s no secret that highway accidents multiply exponentially when the rain starts falling. That’s why it’s more important than ever to prepare your vehicle for the coming onslaught of a far wetter than normal winter.
At Simpson Buick GMC, your go-to new and used car Buick GMC dealership in Orange County, we believe in the adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” For this reason, we’ve come up with the following ways you can prepare your Buick, GMC, or another vehicle for this year’s predicted El Niño super storms.
Blades – Good windshield wiper blades are a must when the rain starts pouring. If your wiper blades are streaking, skipping, or have worn/split rubber, replace them with genuine AC/Delco wiper blades to make sure they are up to the task of keeping your windshield clean and your visibility clear. Take the time to top off your windshield washer fluid reservoir. We stock genuine GM wiper blades especially made for your Buick or GMC here at our Simpson Buick GMC Service & Parts Department. We’ll also be happy to install them for you.
Battery – You don’t want to be stranded in a downpour with a dead battery. Inspect the battery posts and cables for corrosion and clean if necessary. If you’re finding it harder to start your car, have your battery, starter, and alternator checked by one of our GM-certified technicians here at Simpson Buick GMC to ensure that they are operating correctly.
Belts & Hoses– A shredded serpentine belt or blown radiator hose could leave you stranded. Over time, rubber loses its pliability, becoming hard and brittle. Look for cracks or shiny spots in belts. The same goes for hoses, which go bad from the inside out. Inspect for spongy, brittle, or bulging areas. Our technicians are trained to spot and correct these issues before they become a problem.
Brakes – Let’s face it, driving in So. Cal can be difficult even when the weather is sunny. More so when the weather turns nasty. Good brakes are essential, especially when the freeways are slick with rain, and the 405 is bumper-to-bumper. One thing you can do yourself is to look for low brake fluid levels in the transparent brake reservoir. If you are adding or replacing brake fluid yourself, make sure to use clean brake fluid from an unopened container to avoid contamination. If you think your brakes feel “mushy” or if your car grabs or pulls when you apply the brakes, let our OC Buick GMC dealership’s certified GM technicians thoroughly inspect your brakes for such things as warped rotors, sticking calipers, worn brake pads, and leaking brake fluid lines.
To complete your 2015 El Niño automotive survival guide, here are some additional things you should check to ensure your car is ready for this unpredictable winter weather season.
Tires – Check your tires for improper pressure, uneven wear, gouges or cracks in the sidewall, or any other abnormality. Refer to your owner’s manual for the correct tire pressure. You can also find this information on the inside of the driver’s side door. Invest in a good quality tire pressure gauge. Don’t forget to check the tire pressure of your spare.
Coolant – You should also inspect your coolant levels by looking at the plastic recovery reservoir next to the radiator. Do this when your engine is cold to avoid injury. You don’t have to remove the radiator cap, just fill the reservoir to the correct level using the proper kind of coolant. Consult your Buick or GMC owner’s manual or contact our Service Department if you aren’t sure what coolant to use.
Headlights And Taillights – When El Niño’s wet weather hits, it’s more important than ever to ensure that your headlights and taillights are working properly. Visually check your headlights, taillights, and brake lights. Most are very easy to replace by following the instructions in your owner’s manual. If your headlight lenses are cloudy, you can clean them yourself using one of many off-the-shelf headlight restoration kits on the market. Our Service Department can also assist you with replacing bulbs and cleaning plastic lenses.
Oil and Transmission Fluids – Locate the oil dipstick and check the oil level. If it’s a bit low, use the correct viscosity oil for your vehicle and top off the oil, being careful not to overfill. Consult your Buick or GMC owner’s manual for the proper oil to use in your car. You may sometimes find the correct oil to use on the oil filler cap.
Steering, Suspension & Alignment – If you notice that your car is constantly drifting to one side or the other and you’re having a tough time keeping it straight, it’s a sign that you need an alignment. If you car’s steering feels too heavy or too light, or if your car’s suspension isn’t taking the bumps like it used to, let our service techs diagnose the problem by road-testing your car.
If you’ve taken the right steps to prepare your car for the bad weather ahead, then you’ll be better prepared to survive El Niño 2015’s impact on our roadways.
As your premier L.A. and Orange County new and used Buick GMC car dealer, Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park is showering you with a torrent of savings as big as El Niño on our entire inventory of 2015 and 2016 Buicks and GMC trucks and SUVs. The ruggedly handsome 2015 GMC Sierra is one tough truck that means business. Ready For Work Or Play
Available in multiple cab and box configurations, the 2015 GMC Sierra gives you options to customize it to your tastes and your needs. You’ll also appreciate driving a truck that looks as good as it performs. Its muscular front end features crystal projector-beam headlights and available LED accents, as well as brightly polished chrome accents. Flared wheel arches, squared-off fenders, and chrome appointments give the Sierra an assertive appearance. The Sierra’s high-strength steel construction and fully boxed frame surrounds you in fortress-like security.
The Sierra also comes ready for work or play with a variety of smart features to making loading, unloading, and hauling gear easier than ever. These include an integrated CornerStep bumper, four movable upper tie-down hooks, available LED box lighting, and available spray-on bed liner to protect your investment.
The New Definition Of Interior Comfort, Versatility & Quality
Step inside the GMC Sierra’s spacious cabin and experience a new level of comfort, convenience, and refinement. As Marty Padgett of TheCarConnection.com points out: “The interior features a well laid-out upright dashboard, with easy-to-use controls that can be manipulated even by a gloved hand. Materials are as nice as any in the truck market, with soft-touch plastics used at almost all touch points. GMC’s signature red lighting is used on the clear gauges as well as for ambient lighting on models so equipped.”
GMC designers paid meticulous attention to detail to set the Sierra’s interior apart. Modern touches like brushed aluminum trim on the instrument panel, steering wheel, and center console, along with contrast stitching on the seats and dash, lend an air of refinement and luxury. Controls are ergonomically placed within easy reach, and the cavernous center console swallows up hanging file folders, laptops, and more.
As TheCarConnection.com’s Marty Padgett notes, “In-cabin storage is excellent. On Sierras with bench seats, there’s some storage embedded in the middle seat section, along with a trio of cup holders. Five-seat Sierras have a wide center console with cup holders, a deep rectangular storage bin, a pair of smartphone ridges, and, depending on trim level, up to five USB ports and both 12- and 110-volt power points so you can recharge or power almost anything–GoPros, camera batteries, even laptops. There’s a dual glovebox, and enough molded-in bottle holders to stash enough water for a desert crossing.”
From the construction site to the country club, the Sierra’s quiet triple-sealed cockpit becomes a rolling office that excels at keeping you at the top of your game. When you need to transport workers to a job site or the family on a weekend outing, the Sierra’s interior obliges with ample rear-seat legroom and dual-density foam seats for exceptional comfort. Available leather seating lets you take your Sierra uptown.
Command & Connect With High-Tech
You’ll command and control an array of cutting-edge technology in the new 2015 Sierra. The Sierra keeps you connected like never before with an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for up to seven devices. Stay productive and stay in touch no matter where the road takes you.
But that’s just the beginning for the Sierra’s technological innovation. GM’s available 8-in customizable Color Touch Radio with IntelliLink gives you an array of entertainment, information, navigation, and connectivity features, including:
Performance That Gets It Done
Under the hood, the Sierra comes ready to outperform with several brawny engine choices. GM engineered these engines with more than 50 years of proven small-block technology, combining performance when you need it with solid fuel economy. Don’t underestimate the newly designed 4.3-liter EcoTec® V6. With 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque, it’s got the muscle to get things done with a towing capacity of up to 7,600 pounds. The V6 also delivers up to an EPA-estimated 24 highway mpg, thanks to fuel-saving features like direct fuel injection, Active Fuel Management™ cylinder deactivation, and a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic.
If you need to step up the power, the Sierra’s potent 5.3-liter EcoTec® V8 won’t disappoint. It’s rated at 355 hp and churns out 383 lb-ft of torque. Continuously variable valve timing contributes to an EPA-estimated 23 mpg highway, and the engine can tow up to 11,000 pounds.
For the ultimate in performance and towing capacity, the available 6.2-liter V8 pumps out an authoritative 420 horses and prodigious 450 lb-ft of torque. This bad boy lets you tow a class-leading 12,000 pounds for those big jobs that need a heavy hauler to get the job done. A new eight-speed transmission helps improve fuel economy.
Safely handling those big loads requires a truck that steps up to the plate and delivers. That’s why the 2015 Sierra lineup comes with the latest in driver-control technology. In additional to available four-wheel drive, the Sierra helps you keep things straight and steady with such features as:
Combine these with fully independent suspension with a higher spring rate for a more controlled ride, Duralife™ long-life brake rotors, and available Magnetic Ride Control for a ride that is both comfortable and confident.
The 2015 GMC Sierra also excels where it matters most, and that’s when it comes to the safety of you and your passengers. Some of the many important standard and available GM safety features you’ll find on the Sierra include Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Vision Camera. There’s also an available “Safety Alert Seat” that vibrates the driver’s seat cushions. Additionally, most Sierra models feature a 6-month trial subscription to the “OnStar®10 Directions & Connections Plan.” The plan includes:
The 2015 GMC lineup comes in several trim levels and package options. The summer is winding down and from Newport Beach and Garden Grove to Anaheim, Fullerton, La Habra, La Mirada, Buena Park and all points in between, the groans of children can be heard reverberating throughout Orange County.
For parents and kids, setting summer fun aside and getting ready once again to hit the books can cause a lot of stress. But preparing for the first day of fall semester doesn’t always have to be doom and gloom. It can be something the family looks forward to; a new educational adventure filled with possibilities.
Here at Simpson Buick GMC, your hometown Buick GMC dealership in Buena Park, California serving L.A. and Orange counties, we’re all about family. So we would like to help get the new school year off to a good start with some handy tips, suggestions, and ideas for back to school.
Anxiety and nervousness are to be expected; especially if your child is new to the school. It’s important for parents to be supportive, but also for kids to give themselves space to get adjusted. Most problems adjusting to school are only temporary. Encourage children to make new friends; even if it’s only one. Having a buddy or reconnecting with an old friend to help navigate the new school environment can help make the transition easier.
Each teacher has their style of teaching. Some may jump right into the lesson plan while others may ease their class into the new academic year. The school may kick things off with an assembly or another school-wide activity. There are so many things to experience the first day, so let your child know that it will take time to adjust to new teachers and expectations.
It’s important to feel good about how you look; especially on the first day when everyone is sizing each other up. Whether it is a new outfit or something familiar, the important thing is for your child to feel comfortable about what they are wearing. If they are wearing new shoes, have them break them in a few days beforehand.
Get your ducks in a row before the dawn of a new school day by having your child’s backpack ready to go with necessary school supplies. Have all the appropriate forms, like health and contact information, prepared beforehand. Lay out the first few days of school clothes in advance.
It’s a smart idea for parents to give their children at least a week before school starts to adapt to a new schedule. Begin by adjusting bedtimes and wake times to the new school schedule. Have breakfast ready on the new schedule and prepare lunches the night before.
Put up a calendar in the kitchen or another area where everyone gathers and list important dates and times for school, after-school activities, and other key information.
Many schools have an open house sometime before the start of the new school year. It’s a great time to meet your child’s new teachers and orient them to the campus. Show them where to locate the cafeteria, administrative offices, gym, and their locker.
Obtain a copy of the weekly lunch menu and encourage your child to make healthy eating choices, like salads, low-fat proteins, and avoiding sugary drinks. Pack healthy snacks your child can eat during recess or breaks.
The first week or two of school generates a lot of new information. It’s important to establish good study and work habits right off the bat. Create a quiet place in the home that’s free of distractions for doing homework. Encourage your child to plan ahead, listen attentively, and take notes. Familiarize yourself with your child’s assignments and schoolbooks.
The start of the school year is a great time for your child to explore new horizons. Encourage them to join a club or sport and to participate in school activities. School is a lot of work, but it also should be fun.
These are just a few of the many things kids and parents can do to get ready for the new school year. Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that school should be an enjoyable experience. Keep a positive attitude and let your child know that you’ve been through it too and that you are always there for them.
